: Visakhapatnam edged out East Godavari by a point on the league table to win the ACA North Zone A tournament here on Thursday.

In a rare occurrence, both teams were tied on a first innings score of 89 and received a point each in the two-day match which ended in a draw. Left-arm spinner G.D.S. Suresh Kumar claimed five wickets in Visakhapatnam’s first innings on Wednesday.

The first day also saw Srikakulam’s M. Chandramouli scoring a brilliant 170 (19x4, 8x6) in his team’s score of 277 against Vizianagaram.

Medium-pacer M.V. Naresh Kumar picked up five wickets. Vizianagaram made a determined bid to take the first innings lead, but fell short by 15 runs.

Final position : 1. Visakhapatnam 5 points, 2. East Godavari (4), 3. Srikakuklam (4), 4. Vizianagaram (2).

Visakhapatnam 89 (K.V. Ramkishore 41, G.D.S Suresh Kumar five for 32, P. Sagar three for 31) and 151 for six in 69 overs (G. Appanna 62, Trinadh 36, Satish Varma three for three) drew with East Godavari 89 (P. Nagaraju three for 15).

Srikakulam 277 in 56.3 overs (M. Chandramouli 170, M.S. Deepak Kumar 39, M.V. Naresh Kumar five for 35) and 179 for one in 35 overs (M. Chandamouli 69 n.o., Biswanath Das 50 n.o.) drew with Vizianagaram 262 in 67 overs (B. Diwakara 62, K. Satish 45, Praveeth Kumar 37, A. Vijay Kumar 37, K.V.K. Prakash 27).
