Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) retained the title in the all-India inter-electricity board volleyball tournament at the Mini Stadium, Vydyuthi Bhavanam here on Friday.

In a one-sided final, KSEB defeated Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) 25-8, 25-20, 25-15. Punjab State Power Corporation took the third place after defeating TANGEDCO 25-14, 25-10, 25-16 in the loser’s final.

KSEB board member Annamma John gave away the prizes to the winners.

Subin shines

Subin’s unbeaten half-century (71 not out) enabled Kerala under-16 team reach a respectable score against the visiting Bangladesh under-16 side at the end of the truncated opening day on Friday.

The scores: Kerala 113 for three in 49.1 overs (Subin 71 n.o.) v Bangladesh.

Easy for Kozhikode

Kozhikode crushed Kannur by 10 wickets in the North Zone senior women’s inter-district cricket tournament at Thalassery on Friday. In another match, Malappuram defeated Wayanad by 25 runs.

The scores: Kannur 30 in 16 overs (Shani four for two, Bavitha four for four) lost to Kozhikode 31 for no loss in 3.3 overs; Wayanad 107 for eight in 20 overs (Anumol 31 n.o.) bt Malappuram 82 for five in 20 overs (Roshini 37 n.o.).

Palakkad scores

Palakkad defeated Idukki by 12 runs in the Central Zone senior women’s inter-district cricket tournament on Friday.

The scores: Palakkad 95 for three in 20 overs (S. Sumi 58 n.o.) bt Idukki 83 for four in 20 overs; Palakkad 57 for two in 10 overs bt Ernakulam 22 for eight in 10 overs (Arya three for three).

TT tournament

The second Stag YMCA table tennis tournament will be held at the YMCA hall here from October 5 to 7.
