KOLKATA: India’s Chandril Sood and Tanvi Shah have got the top billing respectively in the boys’ and girls’ sections of the ONGC ITF junior tennis (Grade III) tournament, which comes up here at the DKS Complex from Monday.

The tournament, over the years, has seen an increase in the Indian participation. This year there is an overwhelming number of Indians in the main draw.

While Sood has the highest ranking of 192 at the time of sending his entry, other notable Indians in the boys’ section are Vaidik Munshaw, Saurabh Singh, Lakshit Sood, Saai Naveen among others.

In the girls’ section, Rishika Sunkara, Ashvarya Shrivastava, and Sweta Solanki are some of the higher ranked juniors who will be seen in action in the main draw. There are fair amount of entries also from Uzbekistan, Thailand, Russia, Sri lanka, Spain, Belgium among others. — Principal Correspondent
