NEW DELHI: Following a three-way tie, Indian Oil ‘A’ claimed the team honours in the Petroleum inter-unit chess tournament on a superior tiebreak score over defending champion Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ‘A’ and Bharat Petroleum at the Vishwa Yuvak Kendra here on Wednesday.

All three teams finished with 10 match points after scoring five victories in six rounds. The tie was broken on the basis of the aggregate points scored by each team.

The results: Sixth round: ONGC ‘A’ bt OIL 4-0; BPCL bt IOC ‘B’ 2.5-1.5; IOCL (AOD) lost to IOC ‘A’ 0-4; HPCL lost to ONGC ‘B’ 0-4; EIL ‘A’ bt NRL 3-1; GAIL bt EIL ‘B’ 4-0; MRPL drew with BRPL 2-2.

Fifth round: IOC ‘A’ lost to ONGC ‘A’ 1.5-2.5; HPCL lost to BPCL 0-4; ONGC ‘B’ lost to IOC ‘B’ 1.5-2.5; GAIL lost to IOCL (AOD) 0.5-3.5; BRPL lost to OIL; EIL ‘B’ lost to NRL 1-3; MRPL lost to EIL ‘A’ 0.5-3.5.
