Rishika Sunkara kept her cool composure in warm and windy conditions as she outplayed the gutsy Shweta Rana 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the GAIL ITF women's tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex, here on Thursday.

The fifth-seeded Rishika had beaten Shweta in four meetings earlier and thus had the confidence and game plan to make light of the challenge.

The tall Rishika will face the only foreigner left in the draw, qualifier Ho Ching Wu of Hong Kong who got past Eetee Maheta without much trouble.

The results: Singles (quarterfinals): Ho Ching Wu (Hkg) bt Eetee Maheta 6-4, 6-2; Rishika Sunkara bt Shweta Rana 6-1, 6-2; Natasha Palha bt Prarthana Thombare 6-3, 6-2; Simran Kaur Sethi bt Prerna Bhambri 4-1 (retired).

Doubles (semifinals): Rushmi Chakravarthi & Ankita Raina bt Ambika Pandey & Simran Kaur Sethi 6-1, 6-3; Sri Vaishnavi Peddi Reddy & Prarthana Thombare bt Pei-Chi Lee and Chia Hsien Yang (Tpe) 6-3, 6-1. — Special Correspondent
