Ronnie O'Sullivan moved closer to winning his fourth World Championship, having opened up a 15-10 lead over Ali Carter heading into the final session of the best of 35-frame contest, at the Crucible Theatre here on Monday.

‘The Rocket'. in what he has said could be his last match before retirement, needs three more frames for the title and Carter eight.

O'Sullivan had beaten several former champions in Peter Ebdon, Mark Williams, Neil Robertson, as well as two-time runner-up Matthew Stevens, to reach the final, while Carter defeated Stephen Maguire, conqueror of seven-time World champion Stephen Hendry, 17-12 in his semifinal.
