NEW DELHI: Oormila Ram recovered smartly after losing the first set to beat Benedetta Sabatini of Italy 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the qualifying in the $10,000 ITF women's tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Saturday.

Madura Rangathan beat third-seeded Ragini Vimal in straight sets and will be challenged by Pallavi Sharma for a place in the main draw.
