THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Amritsar and Emerald Highte International School, Indore emerged champions in the boys and girls' sections respectively in the CBSE all-India basketball tournament at the Vellayani Agriculture College courts here on Saturday.

Spring Dale overcame Modern School 100-96 in an exciting contest that went into extra time. The teams were level at 86-all at end of the fourth quarter that saw Spring Dale clear a deficit of eight points to force extra time. The momentum was with the Amritsar team in the extra time and prolific scorers Manpreeth Singh and Ranbir Singh found the target at crucial junctures to carry their side to victory.

Indian School Dubai took the third spot with a 70-56 win over Choice school.

Dream run ends

Bhavan's Vidya Mandir's dream run ended in the final against Emerald Highte International School, Indore. Except in the last quarter during which it played to its potential, Bhavan's did not impress and had conceded a lot of ground to its rival. Emerald ended the first quarter with a 10-

point lead and kept the pressure on its rival. Chettinad Vidyashram, Chennai finished third after defeating St. Xavier's Jaipur 40-34.

Boys (final): Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Amritsar 100 (Manpreet Singh 32, Ranbir Singh 30) bt Modern School, Kota 96 (Ramandeep Singh 19, Anurag 14). Loser's final: Indian School, Dubai 70 (Padampat 19, Abdul Khalique 18) bt Choice School, Kochi 46 (Amit Abraham 14).

Girls (final): Emerald Highte International School, Indore 65 (Retu Bishit 23) bt Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Kochi 58 (Lekshmi 16). Loser's final: Chettinad Vidyashram, Chennai 40 (Divya 43) bt St. Xavier's, Jaipur 34 (Sunitha Bhatia 14).
