GURGAON: Gujarat and Delhi won the boys and girls' titles respectively in the National inter-State under-14 tennis championship here on Friday.

Samip Mehta won both his singles and doubles matches to help Gujarat beat Andhra Pradesh.

Samip and Vaidik Munshaw won the unfinished doubles tie against Tamil Nadu in the semifinals earlier in the day and asserted themselves once again in the decisive doubles match in the final.

It was a double blow for Andhra Pradesh as its girls team also lost in the final to Delhi.

Gopika Kapoor played a stellar role for Delhi in winning both her singles and doubles matches.

The results: Boys (final): Gujarat bt Andhra Pradesh 2-1 (Vaidik Munshaw lost to S.B. Abhishek 4-6, 7-6(3), 4-6; Samit Mehta bt Sai Karthik 7-6(0), 6-2; Vaidik Munshaw/Samip Mehta bt S.B. Abhishek/Sai Karthik 6-1, 6-2).

Semifinals: Gujarat bt Tamil Nadu 2-1 (Samip Mehta lost to Irfan Hussain 2-6, 4-6; Vaidik Munshaw bt S. Siddharth (disqualified); Samit Mehta/Vadik Munshaw bt Irfan Hussain/S. Siddharth 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.

Girls (final): Delhi bt Andhra Pradesh 2-1 (Gopika Kapoor bt M. Divija 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-2; Garima Vatwani lost to V. Archana 3-6, 3-6; Gopika Kapoor/Garima Vatwani bt V. Archana/T. Nilaya 6-2, 6-4).

Semifinals: Andhra Pradesh bt Gujarat 2-1 (M. Divija lost to Nova Patel 4-6, 5-7; V. Archana bt Ankita Raina 6-0, 6-2; V. Archana/T.Nilaya bt Nova Patel/Sadgi Rajani 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-3).
