MELBOURNE: A masseur with India's Commonwealth Games team received a suspended one-month jail term on Thursday for an indecent assault on a 16-year-old girl at the athletes' village.
Nabi Dewan, 35, had pleaded not guilty in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court to two counts of indecent assault.
The girl, who cannot be identified, was among students from a school near Melbourne who were volunteer cleaners at the village on March 13.
Magistrate Charlie Rozencwajg found Dewan, a married father of a young son, guilty of the two charges and sentenced him to one month in jail, suspended for a year.
Rozencwajg said that while there were inconsistencies in some evidence given by witnesses, he found the victim's evidence about the indecent assault was consistent. AP
