HYDERABAD: Taj Banjara won the Inter Hotel Cup cricket tournament, defeating Taj Krishna by five wickets in the final here on Friday.
Batting first, Taj Krishna made 167 for seven with Faiyaz (59) top scoring. In reply, Taj Banjara scored 170 for five in 22.3 overs. Awadesh, who scored an unbeaten 55, was adjudged `man of the match.'
The tournament, organised by the Hotels and Restaurants Association of AP (HRAAP), saw 14 teams from various hotels in Hyderabad and Secunderabad taking part.
The winner received the Inter Hotels Cup Cricket 2006 Trophy at a ceremony held at the Gymkhana grounds from Rajiv Narain, President, HRAAP, and GM, Taj Residency.
The scores (final): Taj Krishna 167 for seven in 25 overs (Faiyaz 59) lost to Taj Banjara 170 for five in 22.3 overs (Awadesh 55 not out).
The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association will organise a sports commentators course at the Olympic Bhavan (Lal Bahadur Stadium) here from April 5 to 8, according to L. Venkatram Reddy, secretary of APOA. Those interested may register themselves at the venue between 10.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Former Doordarshan Kendra director and well-known sports broadcaster G.K. Marar will conduct the course.
Loyola Academy Junior College will organise a cricket coaching camp for boys and girls at its grounds in Alwal from April 5 to June 1.

APOA EC meeting
The Executive Committee meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association will be held at the Mourya Inn Hotel at Kurnool on April 2 from 11.00 a.m., said Venkatram Reddy.
The agenda for the meeting is Andhra Pradesh's participation in the 33rd National Games to be held at Guwahati from October 5 to 14.
A general meeting of the District Sports Associations of Kurnool to discuss promotion of sports in the district will follow the EC meeting.
