Hyderabad: The Hindu clinched the SBH Day and Night Corporate cup defeating Dell International in the final at Glendale Academy recently.

Batting first Dell was all out for 122 with Pravith taking five for 24. This effort earned him the Man of the Match award. In reply The Hindu reached the target in 15 overs for the loss of three wickets. C.M. Srikkanth (48) was top scorer.

Shamraj to world meet

Gundaram Shamraj, an Assistant Superintendent, Prohibition and Excise Dept, will represent India in the 11th FINA World Masters swimming championship which is to be held in Stanford University, California, USA, from Aug 4 to 17. He is the only swimmer from Andhra Pradesh who will take part in the meet along with fourteen other swimmers from India. Shamraj who specialises in short distance races will take part in the 50 metres butterfly and 50 metres breaststroke races in the Masters meet. During his career Shamraj had won several medals in university, state and All India Civil services meets.

Corporate cricket

Thirty teams have confirmed participation for the Chevrolet Cup corporate cricket tournament that gets under way on August 5. Sponsored by General Motors, the league cum knockout format event will have the participants divided into six groups, with each team slated to play at least four matches.

Independence Cup cricket

RRDBA trials advanced

The Ranga Reddy District Basketball Association's selection trials for the Chief Minister's Cup originally scheduled for July 26 has been advanced by a day. Interested boys and girls may report to Khader Abdullah or Abdul Taqui Siddiqui at the National Police Academy, Shivrampally on July 25 at 4 P.M..

RRDFA trials on Tuesday

The Ranga Reddy District Football Association will conduct the selection trials for boys under 19 years for the Chief Ministers Cup at the J.J. Nagar ground, Yapral on July 25 and 26 at 4 P.M. Those interested must bring a photograph and proof of age.
