KOCHI: She is just 20 but Nimmy George has lost count of the number of the State titles she has won over the last dozen years or so.
"Think it's around 20," said the final year B.Com student of St. Paul's College, Kalamassery, after retaining the State senior women's crown at the Regional Sports Centre here on Monday. It was Nimmy's fifth State title in this category. Nimmy won four of the event's five rounds and drew the last round against E. Sheena, Kannur's former State champion, to tally 4.5 points.
Sheena finished runner-up while Nimmy's sister Neenu and Thrissur's Aswathy Balagopalan took the third and fourth positions. The top four finishers qualified for the National women's `B' championship to be held later this year. The venue, however, has not been finalised. P. Venugopalan, the Chess Association-Kerala secretary, gave away the prizes.
