Kollam: Bhavans, Elamakara, will meet Choice School, Tripunithura, in the girls' final of the CBSE Cluster VI basketball tournament. In the semifinals held at the Oxford School basketball court, Bhavans scored an easy 42-20 win over Navy Children's School while Choice overcame St. Peter's, Kolencherry, 56-45. In boys' section, the quarterfinalists were spotted.

Kottayam emerged as overall champion in the State sub-junior athletics meet at the GVHSS Ground in Mananthavady on Sunday.
It finished with 209.5 points from the two-day event. Kannur and Kollam finished second and third with 154 and 111 points respectively.
Innings win for Kollam
Kollam crushed Pathanamthitta by an innings and 16 runs in the South Zone under-17 inter-district cricket tournament at the Ashramam maidan in Kollam on Saturday.
Pathanamthitta batting failed for the second time in the match after its bowlers did well to restrict Kollam's lead to 152. Deepan Raj (four for 13) and Anas (four for 22) plotted the downfall of Pathanamthitta batsmen in the second innings as the side was dismissed for 136 runs. At the Medical College ground, Alappuzha-Kottayam encounter ended in a draw. Chasing 214 for a win Kottayam managed 126 for seven thanks to a dashing half-century by Ronson Puthenpura (70 not out).

Kozhikode took the first innings lead against Malappuram in the North Zone (under-17) inter-district cricket championship in Angadipuram on Sunday.
The two-day match ended in a draw, with the host at 67 for four in its second innings, following on, when rain brought an early close.
