NEW DELHI: Rubal Shandilya knocked out fourth seed Karunuday Singh 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 in the second round of the under-16 boys' section in the DSCL National sub-junior tennis championship at the DLTA Complex here on Sunday.

In the girls' under-16 section, Kyra Shroff, the newly crowned under-18 champion played a token game before retiring against Nupur Kaul. The decision was understandable as Kyra was tired after her efforts in the women's and junior sections.

With the qualifying events in long draws clashing with the main draws, being played quite unusually at least two days before Monday, it was not a surprise that matches have been spilling past midnight, at times close to 2 a.m.
