BANGALORE: B. Bhaskar claimed the State senior-ranking snooker title, when he topped the league with a six win and one loss record at the KSBA-McDowell hall here on Saturday.

In the last tie, Bhaskar was in a crackling form as he downed Sunil Sharma 41-63, 66-8, 70-39,75-42,62-35,89-21 and he won the final frame with a big break of 72.

The final placings: 1. B. Bhaskar, 2. B.V. Srinivasamurthy, 3. Duncan Mackenzie, 4. D. Raj Kumar.

Winning effort by Kalender

Kalender's brace (23rd and 90th mins.) helped DY Sports Hostel prevail over Oriental 3-2 in a Prasanna Kumar Memorial State `A' division football league semifinal at the Football Stadium here on Saturday. Vignesh also scored for the victor in the 53rd minute.

Prakash scored a brace (8th and 38th) in Oriental's losing effort. In the final on Sunday, DYSH will clash with ASC.

Karnataka triumphs

Karnataka defeated Tamil Nadu by five wickets and won the South Zone cricket championship of the deaf at BEL Grounds here on Saturday.

In another league tie, Andhra Pradesh beat Kerala by three wickets.

Football tournament postponed

Combined City XI posts win

Nikhil Sharma's 65 guided Combined City XI to a seven-wicket victory over President's XI in a KSCA inter-district under-13 cricket tournament match here on Saturday.

The scores: President's XI 172 for six in 45 overs (Abhihav Manohar 42) lost to Combined City XI 173 for three in 40.4 overs (Nikhil Sharma 65).

Vice-President's XI 190 for eight in 45 overs (Rohit Gowda 60) bt Secretary's XI 184 for eight in 45 overs (D. Nischal 70 not out).
