Carrom World Cup from Nov. 17

Hyderabad: The Rajiv Gandhi World Cup carrom championship to be held in Delhi from November 17 to 21 will feature 17 teams in the fray, according to a press release on Wednesday.

U.S., U.K., Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Switzerland, Netherlands, UAE, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives and India have confirmed their participation.

Competitions will be held in singles for men and women. For the first time, the Swiss League is being played in India in the open singles event. In this format, men and women players will play together. M. Nataraj and Rashmi Kumari, both from India, will be defending their titles in the men's and women's sections respectively. P. Nirmala, who created a record by lifting the National title six times and the Federation Cup title five times and who participated in the first World Cup, is also a member of the Indian team along with the reigning National and SAARC champion D.
