NEW DELHI: Kishore Lakra's 25th minute strike helped Town High School, Sundergarh, Orissa, beat Gurgaon Senior Secondary School, Gurgaon, 1-0 in the Group II super-league match in the 35th Nehru Junior hockey tournament here on Tuesday.

In a group I match, Union Academy Senior Secondary School, Delhi, defeated Bangladesh Institute of Sports, Dhaka, 2-1. Ashok Kumar (29th minute) and Athar Mirza (46th) scored through field efforts before Mohammad Shamsul Alam Sujan (56th) struck one for the Bangladesh team.

Lyallpur Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar, played out a 1-1 against Government Model High School, Chandigarh, in a group III match. Harmanpreet Singh Bali scored for the Chandigarh school and Jagdeep Singh equalised.

Easy for Salwan PS

An unbeaten opening wicket stand between Deepanshu Kumar (55 not out) and Aditya Kaushik (44 not out) steered Salwan Public School to 10-wicket win over Hans Raj Model School in a league match of the Parle Cup inter-school under-17 cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

The scores: Hans Raj Model School 138 for seven in 35 overs (Anmol Sharma 67, Amit Beru 30, Ritesh Kumar three for 16) lost to Salwan Public School 139 without loss in 23 overs (Deepanshu Kumar 55 not out, Aditya Kaushik 44 not out).

Mount St. Mary's School 169 for nine in 35 overs (Mukul Dalar 70, Vidur Sethi 37, Sunny Yadav three for 30) tied with Ravindra Public School 169 for five in 35 overs (Puneet Khari 47).

Bangadarshan, Royal Rangers qualify

Navjeet's 24th minute strike helped Bangadarshan beat Royal Club 1-0 and qualify for the super league from Group `I' in the `A' division DSA football league on Tuesday.

Bangadarshan topped the group with 11 points from five matches. Royal Club and Royal Rangers followed with eight points each but the latter qualified on account of its better goal difference.

In Group `II', Delhi Cantonment beat State Bank of India 2-0, and took its tally to 10 points from seven matches.

Rajputana Rifles wins

Rajputana Rifles defeated Janki Das Har Shukh Das Club 25-18, 25-14, 25-15 in the final of the seventh DDA invitational volleyball tournament.
