Shreepad Renu clinched the third and final berth in the Puravankare Bangalore amateur team for the Louise Philippe Golf Cup, Inter City event being held at the KGA course from March 7. Shreepad made the team from almost 60 golfers who teed off at the Bangalore Golf Club Course here on Saturday.
Shreepad now joins B.K. Shiv Kumar of Eagleton and youngster Trisha. S. Kumar from Karnataka Golf Association, to play alongside pros — Anirban Lahiri, Manav Jaini and Abhishek Jha. Ms. Dhanlakshmi Rice, playing off a handicap of 12, missed by a whisker, losing out in a nail-biting contest to Shreepad Renu.
The results: Winner: Shreepad Renu - 65 net (Handicap 5). Runner-up: Ms. Dhanlakshmi Rice - 66 net (Handicap 12).
Hitesh is best
Hitesh N. Joshi emerged with the best gross score, amongst 30 ‘four balls' groups, in the annual Richmond Fellowship Charity golf tournament.
Some of the best golfers in Bangalore set aside time for the event to participate and support the “Drive for the cause” ‘to help the mentally ill lead a normal life'. David D. Souze finished second best.
Under the skins format this year, 120 ardent golfers signed in to enable 30 “four ball” groups. The best score in each of the “four ball” groups were entitled to win a prize. All prizes and tournament expenditure were sponsored by donors under the Charity Golf banner.

RVCE does well
The RV College of Engineering (RVCE) teams posted victories on the opening day of the Dr. Rajkumar Cup all-India inter-collegiate basketball tournament for boys' and girls', at the Ambedkar stadium courts, Basaweshwaranagar, here on Saturday.
While the RV boys' downed Dayanand Sagar 48-26, the girls' team fought off the challenge from Christ University 46-39.
