MADRID: Teenaged Dane Caroline Wozniacki wore down French veteran Amelie Mauresmo to earn a 7-6(1), 6-3 victory into the final of the Madrid Open on Saturday.

Wozniacki will play World No.1 Dinara Safina who beat Patty Schnyder 6-4, 6-2.

Rafael Nadal survived a second-set scare to beat Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 7-5 to set up a meeting with Novak Djokovicwho advanced to the semifinals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Croatian wildcard Ivan Ljubicic. Juan Martin del Potro beat Andy Murray 7-6(4), 6-3 to complete the semifinal lineup.

Sania & Chuang lose

Third seeds Kveta Peschke and Lisa Raymond proved too good for Sania Mirza and Chia-Jung Chuang, winning 7-6(4), 6-4 in the women’s doubles semifinals on Friday.
