BANGALORE: Stamina and skill were tested to the hilt and K.A. Bharath and Joshine Anthony showed it in good measure to win the first ever BSA Hercules duathlon event conducted by the Runners for Life at the serene Sarjapur-Varthur stretch in the outskirts of Bangalore here on Sunday.

The setting was ideal and passion ran high as over 322 participated in this test of dual skill-road running and cycling- which the organisers split with five kms of running followed by 20 kms of pedalling and then five kms of running in the main event and a shortened version of 2.5 kms running, 10 kms of cycling followed with 2.5 kms of running.

Though the senior women’s category for both the races had fewer participants the other categories were well represented. The winners in all category were presented BSA Hercules cycles besides a host of goodies and vouchers.

Main event (10 km run + 20km cycling): Men’s Open: K.A. Bharath, 1hr 24:37.0 secs. Women’s Open: Joshine Anthony, 1-48:44.0. Men’s senior: Ashok Nath, 1-31:11.0. Women’s seniors: Juju Grieve, 2- 18:35.0.
