CHENNAI: A three-member committee comprising J.K. Kumar, Secretary Kanyakumari DFA, A. Kannan, Secretary Nagapattinam DFA and A. Nachiappan Secretary, Ramanathapuram DFA has been formed to take care of the day-to-day activities of the Chennai Football Association. This was formed at the Annual General Body meeting of the Tamil Nadu Football Association held at Courtrallum recently.
According to D.S. Sivasamy, TFA Treasurer, the AGM decided to conduct the CFA elections on August 30 and for this D.V. Sundar, Secretary of the All India Chess Federation had been requested to be the Election officer. Among other things, the meeting also decided to launch the inter-school league under the Vision India programme by the middle of this month in five of the six districts (Chennai had been excluded for now). The State championship this year is to be held in Krishnagiri in October.
Mohana Priya wins
J. Mohana Priya won the Tamil Nadu State under-19 girls FIDE-rated tournament held here, playing out draws in her two final round matches.
Michelle Catherina and A. Akshaya finished second and third respectively.
Velammal bags title
Velammal MHSS won the Amutha inter-school chess championship that was held here, finishing with a tally of 22.5 points out of a maximum of 28. L. Barath (5 pts.), J. Janani (6), A.R. Osma Salim (6.5) and V. Janu (5) clinched the title for Velammal with solid displays. Modern SHSS and Sethu Bhaskara MHSS finished second and third respectively.
