KOCHI: Abhishek Hegde’s fine all-round performance (four for 30 and 44) helped host St. Paul’s College defeat defending champion Maharaja’s College in a last-ball thriller in the Mahatma Gandhi University inter-zone cricket championship at Kalamassery on Thursday.

St. Paul’s will clash with CMS College for the title on Friday. CMS, riding on K.J. Rakesh’s 70 and Rahul’s three-wicket haul, defeated St. Albert’s by 34 runs.

The scores: Maharaja’s, Ernakulam 155 for nine in 25 overs (Thanseeb 49, Abhishek M. Hegde four for 30) lost to St. Paul’s, Kalamassery 156 for six in 25 overs (Abdul Samath 48, Arun Pradeep 40, Abhishek Hegde 44).
