Chennai: A Special General Body meeting of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, on Monday, passed a unanimous resolution removing the clause that limits an office-bearer’s tenure in the TNCA to eight successive years.

K.S. Viswanathan, secretary, TNCA, said the meeting was requisitioned by as many as 123 members clubs of the TNCA. “If there is a request from more than one fifth of the members, the TNCA has to hold a Special General Body meeting,” he said.

He revealed 162 out of 191 members attended the meeting.

Explaining the move, Mr. Viswanathan said the TNCA was registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act (SNSRA).

“But since there was no restrictive clause in the SNSRA of this nature, the members wanted a change.”

The rule had been in place since 1980. — Special Correspondent
