Mumbai: Dilip Vengsarkar will not attend the selection committee meeting at Bangalore on Wednesday, December 5 — to pick the Indian team for the third Test at Bangalore and for the four-Test series in Australia — if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not unconditionally withdraw the seven-point guideline to be followed by the selection committee and also compensates him for not allowing to write columns.

According to sources, Vengsarkar spoke to three of his colleagues — Sanjay Jagdale, Ranjib Biswal and Venkatapathy Raju — of the stand he’s going to take and thereafter informed the BCCI on Sunday night saying he would be glad to attend the selection committee meeting in Bangalore, only if it revokes the seven point guideline and compensates him for the loss of income from writing columns.

The BCCI would have to respond before the meeting takes place in Bangalore on Wednesday.

BCCI sources said that in the circumstances, a four-man selection committee may pick the team for the third Test against Pakistan and for the Test series in Australia. — Special Correspondent
