Chess tournament

The Engine Factory Sports Council, Avadi, is organising the All-India Ordnance Factories inter-zone chess tournament at the Bhisma Club, HVF from December 6 to 8.

Teams from ordnance factories all over India are taking part in the tournament, to be played under the FIDE Swiss rules. The Additional Director General, AVHQ Avadi, will inaugurate the tournament.

Thirushkamini to lead

M.D. Thirushkamini will lead the TNCA Women’s Wing under-19 team in the South Zone inter-State junior zonal cricket tournament (one-day matches) in Hyderabad from December 5 to 11.

Moses set to become champion

Chennai’s Preetham Dev Moses, recently crowned the champion of champions in the Ucal Rolon National Championship for two wheelers, is set to become the first Indian motorcycle racer to win an international championship title in the expert category.

He currently leads the experts 600 cc category championship in the Malaysian Super Series. It’s his second season.

Semifinalists spotted

G.K.M. Foundation (Kanchipuram), St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Armed Police and Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar Club (Chennai) entered the women’s semifinals of the Panimalar Senior State volleyball championship at Palayamkottai on Friday.
