NEW DELHI: Yuki Bhambri has been given a wild card entry in the main draw of the men’s section in the DSCL National tennis championship to be played at the DLTA Complex here from Sunday.

The 15-year-old Yuki had done very well to reach the final qualifying round of the ATP Tour event in Mumbai before going down in a third set tie-break.

Rupesh Roy, Vijayant Malik and Navinder Pal Singh are the other wild card entrants in the men’s event.

Aditya Madkekar, Ashutosh Singh, J. Vishnu Vardhan, Vivek Shokeen, Vijay Kannan, Tushar Liberhan, Vinod Sridhar and Navdeep Singh will be the ones to get seeded in the event that does not have last year’s champion Purav Raja or the runner-up Divij Sharan.

In the women’s section, Isha Lakhani will spearhead the challenge, along with Rushmi Chakravarthi, and the Bhambri sisters, Ankita and Sanaa, who have all won the title over the years.

Sonal Phadke, Parija Maloo, Asha Nandakumar, Shweta Kumari Solanki, Parul Goswami and Poojashree Venkatesh will be the other main players in action.

Rupesh and Yuki along with Vijayant, Prajnesh Gunneswaran and Sriram Balaji will be the ones looking for the junior title in the event that would be held concurrently and played on a draw of 64.
