NEW DELHI: Aditya Madkekar saved five match points to beat wildcard Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia 2-6, 7-5, 6-0 in the first round of the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Mando, Indonesia, on Tuesday.

In a gripping contest that spanned two hours and 45 minutes, the third-seeded Aditya showed his resilience by saving a match point on his serve in the seventh game of the second set and four match points on the Indonesian’s serve in the next game.

He was on cruise mode in the decider which he pulled off in just 13 minutes.
