KOZHIKODE: Promising youngsters G.N. Gopal from Kerala and G. Rohit from Andhra Pradesh made their third and final GM norms at the Asian Zonal chess championship being held in Dhaka.

“Both Gopal and Rohit have met the requirements for the nine-game GM norms,” Md. Haroon Rashid , the tournament’s Chief Arbiter, told The Hindu over telephone from Dhaka. Both players now need to touch the 2500 mark in Elo rating to get their GM titles.

Gopal and his compatriot S.S. Ganguly are leading the tournament with eight points each at the end of the tenth round.
