HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) has called a meeting of all State sports bodies at its Olympic Bhavan office, Lal Bahadur Stadium on August 29 at 5 p.m. to discuss the Government of India’s draft sports policy.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) proposes to hold a meeting of all its state affiliates in the first week of September in Delhi. With this in mind, the APOA will examine issues such as sport’s integration with education, infrastructure and equipment, excellence and incentives, training of coaches, officials and broadbasing of sports. It will also monitor direct and indirect moves by the government to encroach on the autonomy of sports in the name of regulatory authority. — Special Correspondent
