BANGALORE: Gaurav Gill needs just to complete the Super Special Stage on Sunday to wrap up the title in the Bosch K-1000 rally, the third event of the Indian National Rally Championship. After the completion of the second day, Gaurav had a lead of one minute and seven seconds over Vikram Mathais of Red Rooster racing team.
Gaurav was head and shoulders above the competition at the K-1000. With his Cedia 2000 purring beautifully, the Delhi-based driver hit the throttle to fly on the dirt track at the special stages in Siddalghata, in Kolar district. Watched by a sizeable crowd, especially at the end of the third stage which was the flying finish zone, Gaurav gave the local crowd something to hoot, cheer and whistle about.
Arjun Balu, the overnight second-placed driver, was forced to drop out of the rally as he lost a wheel bolt on the day’s first stage.
