Melbourne: Wiser by experience, former India cricket coach, Greg Chappell, has said he was ready to pass on his experiences to fellow Australian and the new Pakistan coach, Geoff Lawson, but their conversation would remain in-house.

Chappell is in Lawson’s “list to call” as he prepared to take up the Pakistan job left vacant by the death of Bob Woolmer during the World Cup.

“I haven’t heard from him as yet but I’d be happy to have a chat if he wants to do that,” Chappell said.

“But I’m not going to go about that publicly. I’ll talk to him myself. It will be a personal and private conversation,” said the Australian, who was involved in a very public fall-out with the then Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly, during his stint.

Asked if he considered Lawson a good choice as Pakistan coach, Chappell replied: “I’m not making any comments about anything because it will only go to the sub-continent and be bouncing around there.” Chappell’s two-year contract with the BCCI ended on a sour note in April following a disastrous World Cup campaign in the Caribbeanamid controversy over his methods. — PTI
