CHENNAI: Young Akshay Deepak, an ICL trainee, is one of the four who qualified for the main draw which gets underway on Wednesday in the ICL-Chennai Open circuit II at the ICL academy courts.
The 14-year-old Akshay, playing his first PSA event, came up with some pleasing strokes to unsettle his opponent, Ali Miski of Lebanon.
That the Indian needed just 24 minutes to earn the passage speaks volumes of the youngster’s growing confidence.
Akshay now gets ready to meet his senior in the Academy, Parthiban, and surely he is keen to continue his good run.
The other three qualifiers’ berths went to Egyptians all of whom provided assured displays.
