Chennai: Nishanth Chandrasekar, finishing 62nd among 83 sailors from 13 countries, registered the best performance by an Indian competitor in the IODA Asian optimist sailing championship in Singapore recently.

The sailors competed in 12 races in a span of a week. Singapore won the event.

The standings of Indian sailors in the championship:
