CHENNAI: Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) bagged the men’s and women’s titles in the 11th SRM-Federation Cup boxing championship, which concluded at the SRM University Campus, Kattankulathur near here on Friday.

The Railways men’s team, with 32 points, grabbed four gold, two silver and three bronze medals while its women’s counterpart (38) took home seven gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Railways men pushed the defending champion Services Sports Control Board (28) to the second spot. Haryana (16 points) finished second in the distaff category.

Tamil Nadu bagged a lone gold medal through Soniya, who defeated Jerina of Manipur in the pin weight category final. The host ended up with five third place finishes.

Dilbag Singh of RSPB and Sarita Devi of Manipur got the best boxers awards in the men’s and women’s sections. The winner and runner-up teams received Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively.

P. Sathyanarayanan, Vice-Chancellor, SRM University, gave away the prizes.
