Madurai: Host KLN Engineering College's `A' team lifted the KLN Krishnan memorial Trophy defeating Sudharsan College of Engineering, Pudukottai, by nine wickets in the State-level inter-engineering college cricket tournament at the KLN CE ground, Pottapalayam, on Tuesday.

Mr. S.V.S. Sivanath, secretary, KLN CE gave away the prizes.

Special Awards: Man of the series: Lessle Charles (KLN CE `A'); Batsman: T. Silambarasan (SIT); Bowler: Siva Chandra Bose (SIT); All-rounder: T. Jegan (SIT).

The scores (Final): Sudharsan College of Engg. 78 in 21.3 overs lost to KLN CE `A' 79 for one in 16.1 overs.

Third place: Sethu Institute of Tech. Kariapatti 205 for five in 20 overs (T. Silambarasan 74, Packiaraj 49) bt Pandiyan Saraswathy Yadava Engg. College 66 in 17.4 overs (Jegan four for eight).

Sanjay shines

Sanjay's 94 ball 113 and Kailash's breezy 60 helped Mepco Schlenk Engineering College chalk out a handsome 94-run victory over War Horses Cricket Club, Virudhunagar, in the Virudhunagar DCA first division league at Sivakasi recently.

Richard nets winner

A goal headed in by Richard off a flag kick taken by Pichai in the 35th minute helped Railway Institute beat High Court Football Club 1-0 in the Madurai DFA `B' division league at D'Nobili MHSS ground, Madurai on Tuesday.

NDFA posts win

Nilgiris District Football Association entered the semifinals of the 31st annual Vinothakumar memorial Trophy State-level football tournament defeating Acme Sports Club, Madurai, 1-0 at ANUA MHSS ground, Sivakasi, on Tuesday.

Nandakumar headed home the only goal of the match off a cross from Sachu from the right in the 73rd minute.
