CHENNAI: Karan Rastogi (ONGC) scripted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Divij Sharan (IOC) in the men's semifinals of the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board inter-unit tennis tournament at the SDAT-Nungambakkam Stadium here on Thursday.
Serving well and hitting the ball with confidence, Karan had things pretty much under control throughout the match. Karan came up with more winners than Divij, who looked subdued.
The crucial break for Karan came in the ninth game of the second set. Divij hit a series of forehand and backhand shots wide and finally a forehand passing shot by Karan fetched him the lone break of the set. He then served out the match at love.
The second semifinal will be played on Friday morning between Sanam Singh (IOC) and Sunil Kumar (IOC).
