Erode: Three-time World champion Pankaj Advani demolished his opponents to enter the knockout quarterfinals from Group A in the J.S. Trophy snooker tournament here on Friday.

Local hope S. Surendran of S.S. Sports Academy also maintained a clean round-robin league slate for a place in the knockout round.

Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club defeated Arumugam Cricket Club by 39 runs in the Sri Ramakrishna Mills Trophy cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds in Coimbatore recently.

The scores: Sri Ramakrishna Mills SC 188 for six in 30 overs (B.S. Arun Prasad 43, U. Sathish 60) bt Arumugam CC 149 in 27 overs.

Indian CC posts win

Indian Cricket Club posted a five-wicket win over Suryabala Cricketers in a play-off match to decide the top three spots in the TNCA-CDCA second division league for the Unidrive Line Trophy at the TNAU grounds in Coimbatore recently.

Second division: Suryabala Cricketers 126 in 28.3 overs (Khaleel 57, P.D. Manikandan four for 38) lost to Indian CC 129 for five in 36.4 overs. Third division: Janaranjani SC 132 in 32.2 overs (Aditya Vikram 40) lost to Coimbatore Friends CC 133 for seven in 32 overs (Atheesh Sankaran 43). Fourth division: CIT 229 for five in 46 overs (U. Venkat shines

A fine knock of 76 by Venkat enabled Rajaganapathy Cricket Club (Pandamangalam) score a 35-run win over SPB Sports Club (Pallipalayam) in the TNCA-DCAN `A' division league at the SPB Colony grounds in Namakkal recently.The scores: Rajaganapathy CC 160 in 37.3 overs (Venkat 76) bt SPB SC 125 in 32.3 overs.

Masters CC (Tiruchengodu) 78 in 20 overs (M. Vijayakumar four for 10) lost to ICRC (Sankari West) 79 for two in 15.3 overs.

Saravanan scalps seven

A good spell by Saravanan (seven for nine) saw RMCC score a handsome nine-wicket win over SCC in the TNCA-SDCA second division league at the Neelambal School grounds in Salem recently.

Volleyball league

The district volleyball league championship for men and women for the T.S. Natarajan and Jayamani Dharmalingam memorial trophies organised by the Coimbatore District Volleyball Association will be held at the VOC Park Corporation Sports Complex courts in Coimbatore on March 3 and 4.

NDCA trials
