HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Police drubbed Youth League 6-1 to set up a title-clash with Osmania University, which got the better off AG Andhra Pradesh 4-1 in the other semifinal of the 27th Royal Club invitation hockey tournament for B. Devarajan Trophy at Gymkhana Grounds here on Friday.

In the first match, Police took the lead in the 11th minute through centre-forward Suri Babu and just before the break he scored again.

In the second session, Youth League reduced the margin through centre-forward George Logun. But, soon Police moved into top gear to score four more goals through left-out David Raju (2), Jagadish (1) and Suri Babu (1).

In the second semifinal, K. Sai Kiran (2), Sailesh and Manjunath struck for Osmania while Mahabub Ali reduced the margin for AGAP.

Earlier, two minutes silence was observed in memory of Solomon Raj, former Income Tax Recreation Club player who passed away on Thursday.

Narrow win

AP Civil Services recorded a narrow, six-run win against Infotech Enterprises to enter the semi-final of the Keane Info Cup corporate, floodlit cricket tournament at Sports Coaching Foundation (Masab Tank) here.

The scores: AP Civil Services 98 for three (Parmesh 37 not out) bt Infotech Enterprises 92 for five (Sagar 30).

Football tournament

Ramana for Iran tournament

C.H.H.S.V. Ramana, State sub-junior player from Visakhapatnam and a student of Little Angel School, has been selected to represent India in the second Fajr International juniors, cadet and mini cadet table tennis championship to be held in Qazvin (Iran) from March 6 to 9, according to a press release.

M. Venugopal, who has been coaching national cadet girls champion Nikhat Bhanu along with others at Gujarati Seva Mandal, was also nominated to accompany the Indian squad for the above meet.
