Madurai: Defending champion, Integral coach Factory, Chennai and SAI Chennai will clash for the men's title, while Tamil Nadu Police and Chennai will meet in the women's final in the Tamil Nadu State Senior kabaddi championship organised by MDAK Association.

In the semifinals played at the Government Kaller Higher Secondary School, Checkanurani near here on Thursday, ICF outplayed Madurai 37-9, while SAI Chennai defeated Sun Paper Mills, Cheranmadevi 23-15.

In the women's semifinals, Chennai drubbed Erode 22-8, while Madurai lost to T.N Police 19-32.

Men (semifinals): ICF Chennai bt Madurai 37-9; SAI Chennai bt Sun Paper Mills 23-15. Quarterfinals: ICF bt Namakkal 46-18; Madurai bt Erode 24-12; SAI Chennai bt Cuddalore 27-14; Sun Paper Mills bt KMK Chennimalai 24-15.

Women (semifinals): TN Police bt Madurai 32-19; Chennai bt Erode 22-8. Quarterfinals: TN Police bt Coromandal Intag, Madurai 61-14; Madurai bt Kanyakumari 39-19; Erode bt Salem 39-11; Chennai bt Namakkal 27-7.

Volleyball championship

Tuticorin is one of the three centres, for conducting the preliminary round-1 in the National Volleyball league championship for men and women this year. The other two centres will be Hindalco, Renukoot (U.P) and Payyanoor Kerala.

The National league volleyball championship (Preliminary Round - 3) will be conducted at the temporary stadium at the Seena Vaana Government High School ground, Tuticorin from Feb. 27 to March 4.

Six teams in the men's section and four in women's section are taking part in the six-day championship.

The teams: Men: ONGC, Dehra Dun, Punjab Police, IOB Chennai, Southern Railway, Chennai, The Muthoott group, Kerala and Jatra, Jatra Surt Sangha, Kerala.

Women: KSEB Thiruvananthapuram, Eastern Railway, Dr. Sivanthi Club, Chennai and Karnataka Police.

Big win

An unbeaten century by Sureshprabu (101 not out) and a five-wicket haul (five for 13) by Theivendran helped Rainbow Cricket Club carve out a resounding 200-run victory over Crescent Cricket Club in the Ramanathapuram District Cricket Association league at Ramanathapuram recently.

In another match, a deadly bowling spell by Adheeswaran (eight for 19) helped Grandslam Cricket Club defeat Agni Cricket Club by 66 runs.

A brace by Shameem and a goal by Sathak Umer helped United Sports Club defeat Patnam Youngsters 3-1 in the Tuticorin District Football Association `D' division league for Gani Memorial Trophy at USC ground in Kayalpatnam. Dilan scored the only goal by Patnam Youngsters.
