Coimbatore: Formula One test driver Narain Karthikeyan is preparing pretty hard for his A1 GP debut in New Zealand this weekend.
Soon after he arrived in New Zealand, Narain carefully checked out the changes carried out in the recently modernised 3.5km long Taupo Circuit. "It's quite a narrow circuit and overtaking is going to be really hard. There are some fast and slow corners and the tarmac looks new," Narain said.
The fastest Indian in the World initially wants to learn how the car behaves. "I will be driving this type of car for the first time so I will have to see how it goes."
The A1 GP car is quite different to the car Narain is used to driving. It is heavier and slower than its Formula One counterpart, but with less down force and slick tyres it also has less grip. In fact, this makes the car slide around corners, which Narain is set to experience during Friday's practice sessions.
As far as Narain is concerned it's a new challenge. "It is definitely different to what I have been doing recently in terms of the car and the specifications, so it will take some time to get used to it.".
