New Delhi: Tamil Nadu is likely to host the Santosh Trophy in April-May next year with Goa deciding to opt out from the race even though both associations were on Tuesday shortlisted to host the tournament by the All India Football Federation’s executive committee.

GFA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and wanted to host the Federation Cup. But since it did not have floodlights, the tournament was given to Indian Football Association.

GFA then proposed to host the Santosh Trophy but with Tamil Nadu Football Association — celebrating its 25th anniversary — also showing interest, Goa decided to opt out. — PTI
