Melbourne: Cricket Australia is convinced by Andrew Symonds’ version of the brawl in the bar but the embattled all-rounder would be admonished for his tendency to invite troubles, according to media reports here.

According to Sydney Morning Herald, CA Chief executive James Sutherland has received the report from General Manager of Cricket Michael Brown who had been entrusted with a probe into the matter.

“Sutherland has received a report that is understood to have backed Symonds’s story, which should mean he escapes the sack over the altercation instigated by a man who wanted to take the all-rounder’s photograph.

Players not pleased

“However, there is considerable anger among players, officials and board members that Symonds again put himself in a situation with the potential for trouble,” the daily reported.

According to the report, Symonds would be rebuked for being in the bar, especially when he had alcohol problems.

“At the least, Symonds will be admonished about his decision to attend the pub with members of the Australian rugby league team after much-publicised issues with alcohol and ejection from the national team following his infamous Darwin fishing trip.

Terms on behaviour

“CA could also elect to impose terms on his off-field behaviour,” the report said. — PTI
