Kanpur: India’s tour of Pakistan early next year is subject to the Government’s security clearance, said Rajeev Shukla, BCCI vice-president, here on Wednesday.
“The BCCI president Shashank Manohar has sought security clearance from the Government. We have started the process and once we get the clearance, we will go ahead with the tour,” Shukla said.
India’s tour of Pakistan is from January 6 to February 19.
Meanwhile, Shukla, who is also the secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, said that stringent security measures are in place for the ODI here on Thursday.
Shukla mentioned that the next International match at Kanpur might be held at a new ground. “We are discussing with the State Government to allot some land for us so that our association can have a stadium of its own.
“At the same time if we can get a lease over this Green Park Stadium then we can improve its infrastructure. Yes, we had to pay a rent of Rs. 1 crore to the State Government for this match but let us not make an issue out of this.
“We have always paid a fee, which started at Rs 3 lakhs many years ago,” Shukla said. — Principal Correspondent
