CHENNAI: The Manchester United Premier Cup, Nike’s annual grassroots initiative for football in India, began in New Delhi on November 11. The programme will be conducted across different cities in India up to December 3.

Participating teams include Mohun Bagan, Mahindra United, JCT, Pune FC, Viva Kerala, Salgaocar, Sporting Clube de Goa, Sikkim FA, Silchar FA, Mumbai Sports School Association, Pondicherry Coaching Centre and Uttaranchal.

The group stages will be held in three centres — New Delhi, Gangtok and Goa. While the Delhi stage has already been gone through from November 11 to 13, the East Zone qualifiers will be held in Gangtok from November 18 to 20.

The South and West Zone qualifiers will be conducted in two stadiums in Goa from November 26 to 28.

The all-India final will be held at the Nehru Stadium (Fatorda) from December 1 to 3.

This is the fourth year in a row that Nike is conducting the tournament in association with All India Football Federation. The competition is open to footballers who are under 15 years of age.
