ARIYALUR: Four new meet records were set at the State junior athletics championship, organised by the Perambalur District Athletics Association, here on Friday.
In the boys’ u-18 hammer throw, Shankar of Golden Eagle Athletic Club heaved the iron to a new distance of 59.90m, which bettered his own record of 56.80m.
In the girls’ u-18 discus throw, Vasumathi of SDAT hauled the discus to 38.87m erasing the previous record of 38.57m set by Anitcham.
In the girls’ under-16 javelin throw, Manisha of SDAT sent the javelin to a distance of 35.78m and eclipsed her own effort of 33m.
R. Soundarya of St. Joseph’s Prime Sports Academy had a leap of 4.81m in the girls’ under-14 long jump to overhaul her own record of 4.71m.
