Mohali: The chairman of the selection panel, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, said the Indians had beaten the Aussies in their own game in the second Test.
He said here on Tuesday, “We were aggressive right through. We scored at a brisk clip in both the innings and put the Australian bowlers under pressure. They went into a defensive mode. Generally the Aussies do this to the other teams. This time, they were at the receiving end.”
After India had forced a draw in Bangalore, Srikkanth predicted, “The second Test will be a different ball game.”
He said here, “On a flat pitch, our bowlers did a remarkable job. Zaheer (Khan) and Ishant (Sharma) were brilliant. Amit Mishra is a genuine spinner of the ball and has the variety. Harbhajan (Singh) bowled beautifully. It was good, consistent bowling.”
He did not single out any batsman but said,” Everybody contributed. It was a team effort.”
He had good words for Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy in the Test. “He’s very positive in his approach and keeps things simple.”
Srikkanth said India would be in the “right frame of mind” going into the third Test in New Delhi. — Special Correspondent
