HYDERABAD: Kiran More, Executive Board member of the Indian Cricket League, feels that the Sri Lankan board’s decision is a great development. He is hopeful that the other boards will respond in similar fashion soon.

In an exclusive interview with The Hindu on Friday, the former India wicketkeeper said the ban was not a fair call on the cricketers but that has been corrected.

“I believe that the Sri Lankan board has finally recognised the contribution of these cricketers,” he said.

“I am confident that in the days to come, the ICC will also take a serious look at its stand,” More added.

“What everyone should remember is that we are only organising the tournament and not trying to take over the sport.

We have been very specific that all those who play in the ICL may play for their country. In fact, the ultimate objective of the ICL is to promote the sport in areas where the boards have not been able to tap talent,” he said. — Principal Correspondent
