NEW DELHI: Three Indian wild cards went out in the first round of the singles event in the $50,000 ATP Challenger Series tennis tournament, here on Tuesday.
All the three Indians on view, Sunil Kumar Sipaeya, Vishnu Vardhan and Rohan Gajjar, were shown the door. The field also has second seed Prakash Amritraj along with Yuki Bhambri and Harsh Mankad.
Sipaeya lost to seventh seed Australian Mathew Ebden 6-7(5), 3-6 while Gajjar surrendered to Briton James Ward 2-6, 1-6. Vishnu, drawn opposite third-seeded Joshua Goodall of Great Britain, retired from the match at 7-6(4), 4-6, 1-3.
