STOCKHOLM: Sania Mirza crashed out of the Nordic Light Open on Thursday, falling to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 loss to Czech Republic’s Iveta Benesova in the second round at the Swedish capital.

Sania’s loss in the singles came after she and her French partner Nathalie Dechy plunged to a 1-6, 7-6(2), 10-7 defeat against unseeded duo of Camille Pin of France and Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium on Wednesday.

Nadal advances

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal crushed Florent Serra 6-0, 6-1 in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters on Wednesday.

The sixth seeded pair of Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy of the Czech Republic defeated Ivo Karlovic of Croatia and Rogier Wassen of the Netherlands 6-4, 6-2 in the second round while Mahesh Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner Mark Knowles got a walkover from Czech pair Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek.
